Hello swimmers, first off, I think everyone did great at the swim meet. All the new swimmers performed well as well as our returning swimmers. I know quite a few of you got DQ’d, but we’re going to work on your technique for each stroke which well help that from happening again and ultimately help you to swim faster. I know a lot of you have been working very hard and it shows. How you swim in practice is how you will swim in the meets! A lot of people on our team achieved Personal Records this meet, many of you set your very first PRs. Now you all should have the same goals of working to break the PRs you’ve set and to do this you’re going to have to practice hard, eat right and get plenty of sleep. To swim faster in any stroke, first we must work on technique, and then speed and endurance. I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving break and enjoyed all the delicious food.

See you in the pool,

Coach Mike

I am enjoying my new journey of coaching.  It has been very rewarding to be working with the kids and see them improving their strokes.  Its nice to have them come to swimming ready to go to work and be excited about learning.  So far everyone seems to be having a good time while we go over the same strokes and drills many times.

Some of the kids just completed their first swim meet and did a wonderful job.  I was busy during the meet with other responsibilities, but in speaking with the kids they all told me they liked their first meet.  I hear some of them did rather well and may have received some ribbons.

Great job!!  Let’s keep up the good work.

Coach Cami

First, I want to say “GREAT JOB!ý to all the swimmers who competed in the Thanksgiving Invitational. I am so proud of the work you’ve been doing in the pool and watching you race, some for the first time, was so much fun for me! Secondly, I want to thank all the parents for bringing the swimmers to practice consistently because it makes a huge difference in their growth throughout the season. Keep up the good work! We’re going to keep working on stroke technique and diving over the next few weeks so that everyone is ready for the next meet in January. My goal is to have everyone swimming at least one new stroke by the time we go to Newberg! ~ Coach René J

Dear Team

Thank you parents and swimmers, for all your efforts to make the Thanksgiving Invitational an excellent meet. As the old timer parents know and the new ones discovered, it takes a stellar effort from everyone to run a meet, and this was our biggest ever. Good job stepping up to the plate, I hope it was not too overwhelming.

Back in concessions we sold out of most things on Saturday, and almost all perishables on Sunday, maximizing profit for the team. Big thanks to Tonya for all her behind-the-scenes, pre-meet work, resulting in a coherent, workable heat sheet, of which many were sold. Cindy, Jeremy and Julie (who had no swimmers) did a great job on hospitality.

Out on deck, our team supplied most of the stroke and turn officials including the Bruces (this was Lynn's last meet, boo-hoo), no swimmers for them either. We did a professional job on electronic timing and computer, not to mention corralling kids, bull pen, head timer, lane timers and runners. It brought a tear to my eye to see the little guys do their first races, great start you guys!

We have the Last Chance Invitational at the Mollala Pool in just a couple of months, so parents, if you see something you could take ownership of for that weekend or would just like to be used to maximum efficiency, talk to Tonya or me. Many of us old timers have jobs that require training, like stroke and turn official or electronic timing (we need more of these). If you see your family involved for the long haul talk to us about training, otherwise there's plenty to get involved with.
